Photos: Juha Allan Ekholm<\/span><\/h6>\n<p><strong>RESIDENCY PROGRAM CYCLE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Residency, initiated\u00a0by\u00a0cultural\u00a0services\u00a0of the\u00a0city of Oulainen,\u00a0offers\u00a0Finnish\u00a0and international\u00a0artists\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to work\u00a0in Oulainen\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0Sykli (Eng.\u00a0Cycle) residency\u00a0program.\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>The aim\u00a0is to have\u00a0four\u00a0residency\u00a0periods\u00a0in Oulainen\u00a0per year\u00a0in the\u00a0future, following\u00a0the\u00a0annual\u00a0clock\u00a0of the\u00a0city&#8217;s\u00a0cultural\u00a0activities\u00a0and the\u00a0changing\u00a0seasons. Priorities\u00a0and themes\u00a0are\u00a0defined\u00a0for each\u00a0search.\u00a0Artists\u00a0are\u00a0asked\u00a0for\u00a0a work\u00a0plan, which\u00a0can\u00a0be\u00a0worked\u00a0on together\u00a0depending\u00a0on the\u00a0occasion.\u00a0Artists\u00a0or\u00a0groups\u00a0of\u00a0artists\u00a0are\u00a0invited\u00a0to work\u00a0in Oulainen\u00a0through\u00a0an open call.\u00a0Artists\u00a0suitable\u00a0for the\u00a0program\u00a0can\u00a0also\u00a0be\u00a0invited\u00a0to the\u00a0residency\u00a0from\u00a0Finland or\u00a0abroad.\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><strong>Annual clock\u00a0&amp;\u00a0seasons\u00a0as starting\u00a0points\u00a0for residency\u00a0activities\u00a0<\/strong><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>The\u00a0aim\u00a0of the\u00a0residency\u00a0program\u00a0is, in addition to promoting\u00a0artists&#8217; work\u00a0opportunities, to bring\u00a0art\u00a0closer\u00a0to\u00a0local\u00a0people\u00a0and into everyday\u00a0life\u00a0in the\u00a0community\u00a0&#8211; to\u00a0create\u00a0interaction\u00a0between\u00a0people\u00a0through\u00a0art\u00a0and culture.\u00a0Artists\u00a0are\u00a0expected\u00a0to\u00a0support\u00a0the\u00a0art\u00a0and cultural\u00a0activities\u00a0of the\u00a0region, for\u00a0example\u00a0through\u00a0participatory\u00a0works,\u00a0artist\u00a0meetings, workshops\u00a0or\u00a0other\u00a0public-oriented\u00a0dimensions.\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>First residency period in Oulainen took place in the summer of 2022. The development of residency action in Northern Ostrobothnia is related to the Oulu2026 Capital of Culture project, in which Oulainen is involved as a partner municipality.
